My Favorite Dachshund Dog Toy (Daddy Hides the Rest in the Fridge)
A thunderstorm kept me inside all day, but Daddy came home with my favorite dachshund dog toy — a squeaky emoji face ball. He gave me one. I know where the other four are.

Yesterday was one of the scariest days I can remember. There was a big rain storm — lightning, thunder, the whole thing. I had to stay inside all day because I absolutely refuse to go outside when it is wet. That is just a rule I have.
The worst part was when Daddy left to go to the store. I do not like being alone during a storm. But he came back, and he came back with my favorite dachshund dog toy.
The Vibrant Life Playful Buddy
He walked in with a pack of five squeaky emoji face balls — the Vibrant Life Playful Buddy dog toys, XS size. Safe, non-toxic latex. They make an audible squeaky sound when you chomp them, which is exactly what I look for in a toy. They come in five different colors and each one has its own ridiculous little face, which I find very agreeable.
He gave me one. Just one.
I Know About the Other Four
I looked at him. I looked at the toy. I looked back at him. I kept looking around because I knew there were four more somewhere, and I intended to find them.
Here is what I have figured out: he keeps them in the refrigerator. I cannot see them in there and my nose has a harder time picking up the scent when things are cold. But I always know when he pulls one from the fridge because it is cold when he gives it to me. Room temperature toys and refrigerator toys feel completely different. I am not fooled.
He thinks he is being sneaky. He is not.
The Best Rainy Day Ending
I will say this: a thunderstorm is a lot less frightening when you have a squeaky toy to focus on. The rain was loud on the roof, the thunder was doing whatever thunder does, and I was on the couch with my emoji ball being very brave about the whole thing.
If your dachshund gets anxious during storms, a good chew toy can help redirect that energy. It worked for me — or at least it gave me something to do while I waited for Daddy to hand over toy number two.
